Strategy, previously known as MicroStrategy, added 1,666 Bitcoin (BTC) in its most recent weekly acquisition. The firm now maintains a balance of 847,666 BTC, surpassing any other publicly traded company.
Operating as a Nasdaq-listed software enterprise, Strategy has transitioned into a dedicated Bitcoin holding company. Regulatory disclosures regarding its acquisitions are regularly submitted to US authorities, typically on Mondays.
MicroStrategy Bitcoin Buying Grows 75% From Last Week
This latest acquisition exceeds the prior week’s volume by roughly 75%. On the preceding Monday, Strategy reported a purchase of 950 BTC valued at approximately $76 million, bringing its total reserves to 846,000 BTC.
Prior to that, the enterprise concluded a 10-week acquisition hiatus on August 31 by purchasing 4,603 BTC, followed by an intervening week that recorded zero purchases.
Market data from BeInCrypto shows Bitcoin exchanging hands near $83,251, reflecting a 2.3% decrease over a 24-hour period. Based on that valuation, the 1,666 coins carry an estimated worth of $138.7 million.
Saylor’s “Even More Orange” Post Came a Day Earlier
Executive Chairman Michael Saylor gave a preview of the acquisition on Sunday by sharing a chart of Strategy’s purchases—where orange dots represent individual buys—alongside the caption “Even more orange.”
BeInCrypto covered Saylor’s announcement that evening, noting that the subsequent Monday filing would verify any new acquisition. Similarly, his message the week before, reading “A little more orange,” preceded the disclosure of the 950 BTC purchase by one day.
Throughout the year, Strategy’s accumulation strategy has shown inconsistency. Transaction records document four separate sales between June 30 and August 10, removing a combined 6,916 BTC from its reserves. Furthermore, the company allocated $174 million last week toward repurchasing its preferred shares, which is more than double the capital it spent on Bitcoin during that timeframe.
As of last week, the average acquisition cost for Strategy’s holdings was estimated at roughly $75,400 per coin. The current market price sits approximately 10% higher than that average.
The regulatory filing scheduled for next Monday will clarify whether the accelerated purchasing pace observed this week represents a consistent trend or merely another isolated event.
