Meta Platforms (META) introduced the Meta VR Glasses, carrying a price tag of $1,299.99, during its Connect 2026 presentation. Additionally, the company offered a first look at the Muse Charm, a keychain-sized hardware accessory designed for its Muse artificial intelligence (AI) assistant.
According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, this product marks the firm’s inaugural attempt to pack virtual reality (VR) functionality into a pair of glasses rather than a traditional, bulky headset. The hardware roster also expands to feature camera-free audio glasses alongside third-generation Ray-Ban Meta frames.
Meta VR Glasses Shrink a Headset to 100 Grams
Meta reports that the glasses weigh approximately 100 grams. A cable connects the optical frames to a separate compute puck meant to clip onto a user’s pocket or bag, allowing the puck to manage the heavy processing while keeping the eyewear itself lightweight.
The tech giant markets the equipment as a portable private cinema, a multi-monitor workstation, and a video game console. Rather than traditional controllers, users operate the device via voice commands, eye tracking, and hand gestures. Power limitations cap the battery life at roughly three hours of continuous media playback. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
This rollout follows a turbulent period for Meta’s VR division. Back in March, the company reversed a decision to shut down Horizon Worlds VR on Quest just one day after announcing it. Meanwhile, in June, shares of Snapchat parent company Snap dropped by nearly 10% after it showcased its own $2,195 augmented reality spectacles.

Muse Charm Puts an AI Agent on Your Keychain
Zuckerberg reserved the unveiling of the Muse Charm for the conclusion of the event. Meta originally debuted the Muse AI agent on September 8. Powered by the Muse Spark model family, the agent performs everyday duties such as scheduling appointments and dispatching emails.
As reported by Engadget, Meta has currently constructed only a small number of Charm prototypes. Nevertheless, the enterprise intends to launch the product commercially in December, though pricing details remain unannounced.
Eliminating the camera entirely, the newly introduced Ray-Ban Meta Audio frames weigh 43 grams, start at $349, and deliver up to 12 hours of battery life according to Meta’s specifications. They hit the market on October 13.
Concurrently, the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 starts at $449, incorporating a six-microphone array alongside new Aviator styling. Meta additionally partnered with Blackpink vocalist Lisa for a special collaboration and introduced an ivory colorway for its Kylie Jenner edition.
These hardware introductions tie Meta’s broader strategic goals closely to the Muse ecosystem. Because the Meta VR Glasses will not reach consumers until spring 2027, the December release of the Charm will serve as an early test of whether consumers want a standalone device dedicated to the AI agent.
