Jim Cramer has revealed that only two equities have attained his exclusive sacred status, granting them immunity from his rigorous sell rules.
During the same broadcast, he advised his audience to ditch virtually any other investment the moment its narrative shifts. Apple and Nvidia stand alone as the sole exceptions to this rule.
The Rule That Makes Exceptions Rare
Cramer’s primary directive is straightforward: shareholders ought to practice what he terms buy and homework, as opposed to buy and hold. An asset only deserves allegiance as long as its foundational thesis remains intact. He maintains that once circumstances shift, investors must liquidate the holding.
Such discipline defines his public persona. Market participants have constructed whole methodologies around betting against his recommendations—a phenomenon BeInCrypto has covered via the Inverse Cramer trade.
Given that context, designating any equity as untouchable is quite unusual for Cramer.
Why Nvidia and Apple Get a Pass
Cramer reserves his ultimate endorsement—own it, don’t trade it—for precisely two corporations. He identified leadership caliber as the primary rationale for this confidence.
He referenced Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s guest appearance in September 2022. The share price had slumped throughout the majority of that year. During the segment, Huang explained the ways artificial intelligence would rely on Nvidia hardware. Within a month, the stock hit its lowest point and climbed to unprecedented peaks by the subsequent spring.
He made a comparable comparison regarding Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. Benioff maintained that his enterprise experienced no slowdown during the Great Recession, despite macroeconomic contraction. Cramer noted that both executives were ultimately correct in their assessments. In his estimation, that proven history is what earns enduring confidence.
Nonetheless, Cramer refrained from advising investors to abandon critical thinking completely. He mentioned that homework remains necessary when evaluating Nvidia’s compressed valuation against Apple’s historic surge. Unforeseen developments could still occur at either firm.
A Reminder That Sacred Status Isn’t Guaranteed
Conversely, Cramer accompanied his commendation with a caution. He pointed to the unsuccessful $11.8 billion share repurchase program executed by Bed Bath & Beyond. This instance demonstrates, in his view, that even esteemed leadership can misinterpret a failing enterprise.
For Cramer, equities must continuously secure their permanence rather than receive it automatically. Apple and Nvidia retain that distinction presently, though nothing ensures they will maintain it indefinitely.
