Ethereum (ETH) is displaying three bullish on-chain metrics as exchange supplies decrease, priority fees increase, and stablecoin reserves on Binance recover.
These indicators emerged following an ETH rally that carried prices from approximately $1,900 to $2,800 before a subsequent retracement. Currently, the asset exchanges hands near $2,678, marking an increase of about 8% over the past seven days, according to BeInCrypto Markets data.
Ethereum Keeps Draining Off Exchange Order Books
Figures from Santiment indicate that a mere 3.49% of the circulating ETH supply now resides on monitored trading platforms. Furthermore, 1.16% of the total supply has been withdrawn from these platforms since June 1.
The analytics firm noted that exchange balances had already dipped to lows not seen since Ethereum’s infancy earlier this summer, continuing a downward trend in exchange reserves that began in January. Having fewer coins on exchanges leaves a smaller volume of ETH primed for immediate liquidation.
“But it reduces the pool of ETH readily available to hit the market during the next wave of selling,” the firm added.
Staking activity and Decentralized Finance (DeFi) help account for where these coins are migrating. Santiment estimates that roughly 35% of all ETH is currently staked, while the Ethereum network maintains approximately $53 billion in total DeFi value.
Corporate reserves also contribute to keeping coins off exchanges. BitMine commands 5.98 million ETH, with 85% of those holdings locked in staking.
“If demand strengthens while available exchange supply stays this scarce, buyers have fewer immediately available coins to compete for,” the team added.
Traders Pay Up to Jump the Block Space Queue
On the demand front, an analyst referencing CryptoQuant figures observed that priority fees jumped 26.74% over a 24-hour period to reach approximately $464,000.
Conversely, gas consumption rose by a modest 0.26% to about 217.1 billion. With mined blocks holding steady near 7,147, the surge in fees was not caused by elevated block production.
“The lack of a significant decline in gas usage suggests that demand for Ethereum block space has not weakened substantially despite the price pullback,” the post read.
The analyst viewed this discrepancy as a sign that users are willing to pay higher costs for expedited transaction processing, highlighting tougher competition for existing block capacity.
Stablecoin Dry Powder Refills on Binance
Finally, data from XWIN Japan tracked ERC-20 stablecoin reserves on Binance, noting a bounce back to roughly $43.8 billion following an August low point near $42 billion.
The analyst characterized exchange-based stablecoins as potential purchasing power for Bitcoin (BTC) alongside other digital assets. Even so, these reserves remain below the roughly $49 billion level registered earlier in the year.
What Could Knock the Setup Off Course
Every individual signal comes with caveats. Santiment emphasized that depleted exchange supplies do not guarantee price appreciation, while XWIN Japan cautioned that reserves can remain dormant or be utilized to margin derivatives positions.
Regarding price action, the network activity analyst identified the $2,600 to $2,650 region as a crucial support zone. Defending this area could pave the way for a renewed challenge of the $2,700 to $2,800 range.
On the other hand, a sharp contraction in priority fees paired with declining gas utilization would place downward pressure on the $2,600 threshold, the analyst cautioned. Upcoming sessions will determine whether fee competition can outlast the current cooling price momentum.
